Idylls / Palisades split
Idylls
released a storming LP earlier this year and have now dropped this split with
Palisades, who have decided to break up. Since writing this review, Idylls
vocalist Jordan announced he’s left the band too. So have a listen to his
swansong with the band by checking out the review and stream HERE.
New Daylight Dies track
It’s been
four long years since Daylight Dies released their last album Lost To The
Living, personally one of my favourite albums of 2008. It was modern death/doom
in excelsis, alongside their 2006 gem Dismantling Devotion. Now the band is
preparing the release of new album A Frail Becoming and has finally posted a
song to stream – ‘Infidel’. The first thing that grabs you about this song is
the pace, it’s much more up-tempo… by comparison to the dreary melancholic pace
that has always characterised their gloomy output. It’s testament to the band’s
will to evolve, an evolution that will become much more clear when A Frail
Becoming is released. Decibel are streaming the song HERE or check it out
below:

Katatonia - Dead End Kings
Katatonia
have, this week, released their ninth album Dead End Kings. After more than two
decades, how does it fare against some of their career bests? Click HERE for
the review.
New Converge video
Converge
have released the music video for ‘Aimless Arrow’ from their eagerly anticipated
new album All We Love You Leave Behind. Treading more melodic shades in
Converge’s generally rather broad palette, ‘Aimless Arrow’ is two minutes and
40 seconds of cathartic aggression and energy and the hectic flashing images of
the video suitably convey the urgency of the music, with Jacob Bannon’s pained
howl and piercing guitars. All We Love We Leave Behind is definitely one of
2012’s most awaited hardcore albums of the year, for obvious reasons. Have a
look and listen below:

New My Dying Bride track
My Dying
Bride will release their new album A Map of All Our Failures on October 15th
and are streaming a new song now – ‘Kneel till Doomsday’. After celebrating 20
years together last year with setlists spanning their career, the purveyors of
all things death and gloom are looking to a new chapter in their tale with a
new record. This “edit” of a new song gives an indication as to where they’re
treading, and it sounds to be very much in the similar fields to that of last
album (the wonderfully harrowing) For Lies I Sire.

Alpinist announce hiatus
Sadly,
German dark hardcore band Alpinist has announced their indefinite hiatus, in
the form of a Facebook statement. After the success of two LPs, Southern Lord
reissues, the split LP with Masakari and heavy touring, the band has decided to
take a break, with no indication as to when exactly they will return but only a
promise that they “will definitely be back”. Read the statement below.
hey punks,
we're making
it short: alpinist is taking a break.
personal
reasons led us to this hard decision. but we feel that the reason we have spent
the last five years and almost 300 shows together, named friendship, was close
to be falling apart and we had to make compromises to keep this band running.
we need some time to talk about everything and will definitely be back at some
point in the future.
all upcoming
shows are cancelled. we are really sorry for that.
for now we
can just say thank you for all the support you've showed us within the last
almost six years and especially on the last tour which has been unbelievably
amazing. we couldn't have had a better time. THANK YOU!
we will
definitely be back!
alpinist is,
was and will always be
