Shining cover Katatonia

Sweden's depressive black metallers Shining are planning the release of a covers EP called Lots of Girls Gonna Get Hurt, and are now streaming their cover of Katatonia’s ‘For My Demons’, from their 1999 album Tonight’s Decision. Instrumentally, the cover is quite tight and doesn’t deviate from the original. On the vocals front, Niklas Kvarforth, who has used clean vocals much more on recent albums, makes him the focus of this rendition. As covers go, this is rather inoffensive, much unlike the overall aesthetic of Shining. The covers EP, to be frank – the horrendously titled Lots of Girls Gonna Get Hurt will also feature covers of tunes by Kent, Poets of the Fall and Imperiet. It’s out June 1st.
